SUPPORT PUBLIC CAUSES

SUPPORT PUBLIC CAUSESAn important reason to join social groups is to find opportunities to serve those who are less blessed than you are. One does not serve with money only. The best kind of service is when one shares his or her knowledge, talents and abilities. People serve by giving of their valuable time.

All religions advocate service to the needy as the finest form of prayer. Service to the needy is service to God. It comes back to you in many forms.

Confucius said, “He who secures the good of others, has already secured his own.”

Service should be for the good of mankind. It must fulfill a definite need. It is not service if you do it to please others or gain public opinion in your favour. This would not add to your self-confidence; it would instead bring you down in your own estimate.

It is universally agreed that it is one of the most beautiful compensations of this life that no man can sincerely try to help another without helping himself. Shakespeare said, “God be praised, who, to believing souls, gives light in darkness, comfort in despair.”

When men and women support the cause of the poor and the needy, God supports them in their efforts. It is this support that adds on to their self-confidence and prepares them to serve better and attain success in life.
